      Access

      Our team are available on the phone from 8am – 6.30pm during the week and from 8am – 6.30pm at weekends.

      We provide a high-grade padlock under a protective shroud which meets our insurers requirements. If you wish to use your own padlock as well you can put two additional 8mm hooped padlocks on the right hand door.

      Most of our sites are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You are free to come and go to pick things up and add things to your Loc-Box at any time. A few of our sites (Corby & Creaton) do close overnight. Please see the individual site pages for details.

      Yes – you can drive right up alongside all of our Loc-Boxes with a Luton Van or similar. If you have a larger vehicle please call our team and let us know and we will try and get you a Loc-Box with suitable access. Please note we do not allow HGV’s on any of our sites.

      Yes, all of our Loc-Boxes are at ground level, so you pull right alongside with a Luton Van or similar.

      Our sites are laid out for a Luton Van or similar. If you have a larger vehicle please call our team and let us know and we will try and get you a Loc-Box with suitable access. Please note we do not allow HGV’s on any of our sites.

      It’s your Loc-Box to come and go as you please. All our customers have their own key fob linked back to them and a padlock key for their individual Loc-Box. If you wish others to access your Loc-Box just lend them your keys and let us know.

      Of course, you can come and go to pick things up and drop them off at any time.

      Occasionally key fobs do go faulty or need to be reset – please call our team and we should be able to get you access again straightaway. Please note that, unless we agree otherwise, you will be unable to access your Loc-Box until your account is up to date.

      Reserving a Loc-Box is free you can do this over the phone by calling us on 01604 505050 or visiting https://www.loc-box.co.uk/reserve-a-loc-box/.  Once we’ve received a reservation we will try and ensure that the storage unit is kept available for you on our site.  Please note only when payment is made is the booking confirmed and we reserve the right to offer you a unit at an alternative site.

      Keys

      Once you have booked you will be sent an email with all the information you require. Your keys will be ready and waiting for you just outside our site gate in a key safe – these will be activated remotely ready for you to collect them. Please take them home with you.

      We provide a high-grade padlock under a protective shroud which meets our insurers requirements. If you wish to use your own padlock as well you can put two additional 8mm hooped padlocks on the right hand door.

      Of course – just give our team a call. Please note there is a small additional charge for this and it can take up to ten working days.

      Let us know straightaway and we can cancel your key fob and also help you secure your unit. We recommend that we change the padlock to ensure your Loc-Box is kept safe.

      Sorry we do not offer a key holding service. Please note that the key safes will be needed for future customers, so we ask that you do not leave your keys on site.

      Covid-19 Coronavirus

      The nature of our sites means that we are likely to be safer than manned warehouses with shared lifts etc, but we still recommend customers act with caution and follow the latest Government Guidance.

      We know that essential workers use our sites who need 24/7 access to their Loc-Boxes. Our business model has allowed us to continue to operate smoothly 24/7 during previous lockdowns and we are confident to be able to continue to do this. However, customers are reminded to follow the latest Government Guidance on this.

      We recommend that all our customers follow the latest Government Guidance. We are asking anyone who comes to our Head Office at Creaton to wear one.

      Size

      Yes – all of our Loc-Boxes measure 150sqft which is about the size of a long thin garage. Externally they are 20ft x 8ft (6m x 2.4m).

      Our Loc-Boxes

      Sorry we do not provide power in any of our Loc-Boxes.

      Yes of course. Our Loc-Boxes are very similar to shipping containers which sit on the open decks of ships exposed to all the elements bringing in clothing and electronic goods into the UK – the doors are all sealed with double rubber seals to keep everything absolutely watertight. The only way water can get into the unit is through the doors which is why we ask all customers to make sure they do not bring water into the unit.

      All of our Loc-Boxes are made of thick steel and are almost like a giant metal safe. We provide each unit with a high-grade metal padlock that sits underneath a protective shroud for additional security.

      Our Loc-Boxes are also covered by remote monitored CCTV.

      Whilst we provide a high-grade padlock you are welcome to also use your own padlock. Each Loc-Box can accommodate an 8mm hooped padlock.

      No, our Loc-Boxes do not have shelves but offer a clear, regular floor area. If you want to install shelving we recommend you utilise the eye hooks in the corner of the unit to secure them.

      All our Loc-Boxes have several vents to allow air to very gently circulate

      We do not provide power or lighting in any of our Loc-Boxes. The sites are however fully lit from dusk until dawn.

      All of our sites* are in secure compounds with key fob access through electric gates so we can monitor who is coming and going. The sites are fully lit from dusk until dawn and the CCTV can be monitored remotely.

      *Creaton is a slightly different set layout, here we are on a rural industrial park with an employee living on site.

      In order to keep our costs down we do not man our sites full time so it is unlikely that a member of the team will be there to meet you. We are though available on the phone from 8am – 6.30pm 7 days a week and offer 24/7 out of hours emergency support should you need us.

      Insurance

      As a business we want to know that in the unlikely event of a fire breaking out on site, or a similar unexpected event, all of our customers could be put right. As a business this is not something we are comfortable underwriting ourselves and so ask our customers to make sure everything they store with us is fully insured.

      We must make sure that everything that is stored across all our sites is fully insured. We have a bespoke insurance policy that is available to all our customers. If you have your own insurance that is not a problem please just show us a valid copy of it.

      Yes we do accept customer’s own insurance but as we are not familiar with their policy we cannot recommend using it. If you have your own policy, it must state that your goods are insured at our address and we must see a copy prior to you moving in.

      The insurance covers all normal risks. A copy of the key information setting out what is and is not covered by the insurance policy can be found here.

      You can still store with us but our insurers need more information on what you are storing. Please give our team a call.

      Whilst you may find this useful for yourself, as long as the total replacement value on a new for old basis does not exceed £25,000 an inventory is not necessary for insurance purposes.

      Opening Hours

      Most of sites are open 24/7 and you are free to come and go as you please. Please note both Creaton closes overnight. Have a look at the individual site pages for details. We do not charge extra for 24/7 access.

      Most of our sites run 24/7 so you can pick up your keys and move in anytime they are open. Our site opening hours can be found on the individual site pages.

      Our Team are available from 8am – 6.30pm 7 days a week. Outside of these hours we offer emergency site support please ring any of our phone numbers for the out of hours emergency contact.

      Accounts & Payments

      Please note we only accept electronic payments. We do not accept cash or cheques.

      For our pay as you store customers we collect the 1st calendar month by card when you book in and then we collect monthly in advance by direct debit going forward.

      For our 6 and 12 month customers we collect the first 6 or 12 months by card and then you will be give the option of moving to a monthly direct debit or renewing for a further 6 or 12 months at the end of this period.

      For our pay as you store customers we take the first month by card when you book in and then monthly by direct debit thereafter. A full break down of all direct debits will included in your booking in email. Our 6 & 12 monthly customers pay the full 6 or 12 months by card on booking.

      Sorry we do not accept cash or cheques.

      As we don’t take a deposit we always bill a full calendar month (rather than 4 weekly) in advance. On our pay as you store package we will refund customers for any days they have paid for and not used (please note this is from when your Loc-Box is empty and your keys are returned).

      If you are on our pay as you store package and have paid for days you have not used we will refund these to you.

      Please note this is subject to our 14 day minimum stay, your Loc-Box being left clean and tidy and your keys being returned.

      We believe it is important for us to know who our customers are – this is in line with best practice within the industry and also to help us comply with Anti Terrorism and Money Laundering Regulations.

      We carry out the photo ID check remotely by using software which matches your photograph in your ID to a selfie.

      Refunds

      If you are on our pay as you store package and have paid for days you have not used we will refund these to you.

      Yes we can help you with this but we will need to speak to and carry out an ID check on whoever is taking over the Loc-Box going forward as well as arrange for a handover of keys.

      What can you store?

      Almost anything! Most of our customers store household contents including furniture, clothing, appliances, sofas etc. Some of our customers use it for storing surplus business materials, tools and others use it for document archiving etc.

      Whilst we do occasionally store vehicles it is not something we specialise in. It is important to speak to our team as the majority of our Loc-Boxes will not be suitable for vehicle storage.

      Please note whilst it is maybe possible to drive into a Loc-Box the width of many vehicles means it can be too tight to sensibly open the door to leave the vehicle.

      Under no circumstances are customer allowed to run or work on their vehicles in the units or on site.

      Please note we do not allow motorbikes, quad bikes, Go Karts or similar to be stored at any of our sites.

      Sorry we do not store caravans. The Caravan Club keep a list of approved sites and we recommend you look at their website for details.

      Yes we ask our customer not to store the following:
      • Anything damp or dirty, particularly anything likely to leak oil or damage the unit
      • Anything flammable or explosive
      • Any animal or plant
      • Most Motorbikes, Quad Bikes, Go Karts or similar
      • We have limitations on our insurance on storing cash, precious items and metals, tobacco, alcohol, works of art etc – please see (link to insurance key terms) for details. Please note that you must contact us to itemise the contents of your Loc-Box if it exceeds £25,000.

      Moving In

      Your keys and key fobs will be in a key safe at our site entrance. You will be sent details along with an instructional video of how to collect these once you have booked in. Once you have collected them please take your keys home.

      You can move in whenever our sites are open – for most sites this is 24/7 (please note both Creaton and Corby close overnight). You will be sent an instructional video of what to do when you get to our site and it is important that you watch this. Please note our head office support team are available from 8am – 6.30pm, 7 days a week.

      We offer the first month half price to all new customers currently working in the NHS, Police, Fire Brigade or British Military – NB not available in conjunction with any other offer. Please note we offer further discounts for registered charities and sports clubs based near our sites.

      Yes – we will give you £20 off your next storage bill. Please make sure you let our team know.

      Each site has an appointed local charity or cause we look to support. If you would like to be considered please let us know. From time to time we do look to sponsor charities or local sports teams as well.
